Sunfish continued on, seemingly not noticing anything was wrong. "What?" She asked, not really feeling like guessing. The black and purple threatened to overwhelm her again. Their own queen, well, one of them at least, had been one of the first hybrid dragonets born when the NightWings had first moved into the rainforest.Ī grinning blue dragon poked her head into the hut Drizzle had been sulking inside of, playfully flashing her yellow stripes at the RainWing to say hello. At least now they had a lot of NightWing/RainWing hybrids that had naturally darker scales so she wouldn't look too out of place. The least she could do was get rid of the black and add a little yellow to stop looking like a depressed rain cloud. But he didn't love her, why couldn't she see that? Why couldn't she see that there was a dragon right in front of her that loved her with all their heart?ĭrizzle sighed and tried once more to shift her scales. Even a visually impaired toucan could see that she still loved him. Drizzle had tried time and time again to convince her he wasn't worth it, that he had left her, but Sunfish always just shook her head sadly, wings dropping. But she knew Sunfish would never feel the same way about her. Everything about her was just so perfect. Everything about the SeaWing had enthralled her, made her want to listen intently to everything she said, made bursts of happiness blossom through her scales whenever the dragoness smiled at her, made her stomach bubble with happy butterflies whenever she touched her. The SeaWing had come to the rainforest seeking refuge after being exiled from the Kingdom of the Sea a few months ago, and the RainWings, Drizzle especially, had welcomed her with open wings. It was Sunfish's fault Drizzle was upset in the first place. All Drizzle wanted to do was curl up in a tree where no one would find her and stay there for the rest of eternity. The thought of her dear friend only made her sadder. She tried to push it down the best she could, to return back to the usual reds and oranges that Sunfish regularly complimented her on. If she wanted to, she could have looked perfectly at home in the NightWing village. Drizzle couldn't help the dark melancholy blacks and purples that flooded over her scales.
